Our coco-perlite mix is a convenient and ready-to-use substrate that offers several benefits for plant cultivation. During production, the coir undergoes a thorough washing, buffering, and rinsing process, resulting in a clean substrate with a low electrical conductivity (E.C.) value and an ideal pH level.
The mix consists of 90% coir and 10% perlite, making it particularly suitable for hotter indoor and outdoor environments. Compared to a 50-50 mix, this blend retains moisture for a longer period, providing a more favorable growing environment for plants.
The coir component of the mix is processed coconut fiber. It serves as a growing medium similar to sphagnum peat but offers advantages such as enhanced aeration and antifungal properties. This makes it a viable alternative to traditional potting soil.
Perlite, on the other hand, is a material widely used by hydroponic and organic gardeners. It exhibits excellent "wicking" action, ensuring efficient water distribution to the plant's roots while maintaining optimal oxygen levels. Often used in conjunction with vermiculite or coco peat, perlite is made from processed volcanic rock. It possesses exceptional capillary properties and does not compact, allowing for adequate aeration. Whether utilized in pot culture or with drippers, perlite stands out as one of the top hydroponic mediums available.
By utilizing our coco-perlite mix, you can take advantage of its clean and well-buffered coir component, paired with the excellent water distribution and aeration properties of perlite. This combination provides an optimal substrate for successful plant cultivation, whether in hydroponic systems or traditional pot culture.
